ACT Prep Class - Tuesday 10:00am-11:00am
Grades: 9-12
High School Credit: ½
Class Description: We will be using the latest edition of Barron's ACT Prep text (students responsible for curriculum). Additional review is provided via a Kaplan's CDROM ACT Review disk. We start by taking a diagnostic ACT test and then review stategies and skills in each test area. Each test area, English, Mathematics, Reading and Science Reasoning are reviewed, tested and analyzed. Student scores are tracked and graphed. The writing portion of the ACT is also reviewed. A final ACT test is taken to determine overall improvement. It is important to note that success in this class is highly dependant on student motivation.
College 101 - Tuesday 12:00pm-1:00pm

Class Description: Students will review time management techniques and goal setting, GPA and transcript creation, budgeting, note taking and listening skills, memory and concentration exercises, learning styles inventory, textbook reading and speed reading skills, and Nelson-Denny Reading test. College Application review and interviewing role-playing will also included. Scholarship access and timing also reviewed.

Film Making - Thursday 8:30am-10:30am

Claymation - As students' technical skills grow, so will the complexity of the animation projects they create. Student teams will develop a script & create a storyboard for production. Students will use state-of-the-art cameras, software & computers to bring their own characters & models to life. Green Screen Adventures - Climb Mount Everest, swim the depths of the ocean, or battle dinosaurs! Using a green screen and special photo-editing techniques, you will venture into real or imaginary locations and film the trip to share with friends. Experiment with photos and unique drawing software to set the scene for fantastic adventures. Don't stay at home - jump into a green screen and find yourself some fun!
Documentary Designs - After getting a taste for several different ways to create movies, the student will now focus on creating an original documentary of their choice. They will go through all the steps of the importance of documentaries, how they are made, and actually film their own from start to finish. They will also create a music soundtrack, write critic reviews, and present their documentary for the school in a film festival at the end of the year.
